Have an event you would like the public to be aware of and drive more participants to you? Below is a guide to help you self-submit information to local and regional calendars.

Getting the word out about an event

Online calendars are an important way to let the public know about SSU events. Unless the event is by invitation only, most events should be submitted for inclusion in online calendars.

  • Some outlets post events ONLY online
  • Others post online AND in the publication
  • But either way, events must be submitted online. See the information below.

Early planning is the key to success. Good publicity strategies are more successful if planning is done early in order to have enough time to develop creative ideas to make sure the event stands above the many groups vying for your audience’s attention.

  • Begin planning 6-8 weeks prior to the event. Make publicity planning a top priority.

Press Democrat

INSTRUCTIONS: After entering the above website, click on the "Add Event" button on the far right of the page. Login or create a CitySpark account.  From there, simply follow the instructions given on your screen.

Wine Country

INSTRUCTIONS: After entering the above website, place your cursor over the "Events" tab on the top of the main page of the website. Choose "Enter Your Event" from the drop-down menu. From there, simply follow directions of the page that comes up, it should be titled "Post An Event."

The Community Voice

INSTRUCTIONS: After entering the above website, place your cursor over the "Community" tab and click the "Event Calendar" option from the drop-down menu. From there, on the upper right-hand corner of the calendar page, click the "Submit Your Event!" button. Then, simply follow the instructions given on your screen.

Sonoma County Go Local

INSTRUCTIONS: After entering the above website, place your cursor over the "Events" tab on the top of the main page. Select "Submit Events" option from the drop-down menu. Follow instructions to register before submitting your event. Once you register, follow instructions to complete registration and then submit event.

INSTRUCTIONS: Complete the event form, from the above website, to add your event to the Sonoma County Calendar.

The Healdsburg Tribune

INSTRUCTIONS: "Go to Your Calendar on the main page of the newspaper, scroll down and then click on Submit an Event."

North Bay Bohemian

INSTRUCTIONS: Login or create an account and click the "Submit an event" link. From there, simply follow the instructions given to post your event.

Yahoo!

INSTRUCTIONS: (You must have a Yahoo! account to add an event) On https://upcoming.yahoo.com, click the "Add An Event" button in the top middle portion of the site. From there, simply follow the instructions given on your screen.
